‘We are adored by the rich and famous around the world.
We are admired and loved by our global customers.
We are envied and despised by out rivals.’
Founded by a humble trio from Scarborough, Sik Silk is a British born brand.
Taking heavy inspiration from the lack of available American apparel, old-school sportswear and Japanese designs, the three spotted a gap in the market and were eager to fill it.
Sik Silk emerged into the industry in 2012 and over the past three years has created huge waves in the men’s fashion scene.
“We found out you couldn’t get American apparel in England. We realised it was about to become really popular and managed to start doing it a year before it really took off.”
Beginning with a prototype baseball shirt, the trio heavily relied on social media to market their initial ideas. The sudden rush of inquiries about the shirt and where it could be purchased left the entrepreneurs shocked.
“We released a baseball jersey and sold them to start with. The big moment came when we got our first store interest.”
Project 722 was the first shop to show interest in stocking Sik Silk clothing. The shop owner; MTV’s Gaz Beadle, became the brands first celebrity endorsement.
Since then, an abundance of famous faces from around the globe have contacted the trendy label, hoping for freebies and samples of the clothing in exchange for promoting the products on their social media pages. One of the brands biggest supporters is Fifty Cent, which in my opinion completely reinforces the statement;
‘Sik Silk is a Global Urban Fashion Phenomenon’
‘When Fifty Cent wears your clothing, that’s when you know you’ve made it’
Clothing by Sik Silk can be purchased through various online retailers and clothing stores across the country, for example, fashion retailer – Thomas Gun.
Thomas Gun has been at the cutting edge of fashionable street wear since 1982 and have a very active presence in social media. Thomas Gun pride themselves on spotting the latest thing and are always sure to stock the most desirable menswear brands. Since taking on Sik Silk, it has become one of Thomas Gun’s best-selling brands.
